Driving through Lewis road on Zumwalt is an experience. The road is poorly maintained, exceedingly bumpy, and lined with unfriendly “No Hunting” and “No Trespassing signs”. The prospect of seeing the vast herd of elk that frequents the area is a huge draw, but on the fall day when I took the reference photo the elk herd was no where to be found. A lot of deer bounded away, providing a bit of excitement... but the spectacular color these trees provided was the biggest reward for my father and I’s adventure.
